Cheaper to Hire Movers
You have probably moved many times in your life. Every time you move in Chicago, there is always a big question – should you hire Movers Chicago or should you do it yourself with your friends’ help? A lot of people think cost is the central issue here but I don’t think that is accurate. I want to show how hiring movers can actually be cheaper than trying to move on your own or with friends.
When you hire Movers Chicago there is a fixed price. It may seem daunting at first but this rolls together the cost of the movers, their truck, and their gas, which are things you have to pay for piecemeal if you do it yourself. The price a mover charges also includes things you simply cannot get for yourself, such as specialized equipment and the expertise of how to do this quickly, efficiently and without breaking anything.
Now compare this to the do it yourself cost. When you see the advertized prices on renting a moving truck they may seem really low compared to hiring movers. But they are deceptive. The listed price does not include gas, which you have to supply yourself. It does not include fees for driving more than a short distance, or dropping off at a different rental location, or adding bungees and mattress pads, or getting insurance on the vehicle (which you would be insane to go without). All those things are extra. Then add the price of taking your friends out for dinner and drinks afterward.
My point is that moving on your own comes with a lot of hidden costs. People often forget about these and they think they are saving money, but they aren’t. If you really want to move your own things go ahead but do it knowing the true cost.
